Properties within proposed Corporate Park go up for sale

Last year, Franklin Mayor Steve Olson proudly announced that Franklin will be targeting three areas for possible TIF Districts to develop them. Out of these proposed areas, the one that has caused some controversy has been the proposed TIF along 27th Street south of the Wheaton hospital. Olson, along with Milwaukee-area developer MLG, envision a Corporate Park for this area due to several factors including easy freeway and airport access.

Despite the encouraging news, the controversy revolves around priorities being given to this corporate park in comparison to the other two areas, one being the 76th/Rawson/Loomis area. Additionally, the corporate park would need require negoiations with Milwaukee County, which has many acres in that area under its control. This has several aldermen questioning why the proposal goes as deep westward as it does, and why the city just doesn't focus on lands immediately along or directly next to existing open fields along 27th Street.

The westward push might coincide with recent events going on with the properties within the proposed corporate park. Commercial real estate website LoopNet, which focuses on properties listed for sale or lease, has updated at least two properties within the corporate park's boundaries as being for sale. The properties, at 3151 W Elm Road and 3617 W Oakwood Road, are being marketed by RE/MAX Agent Curt Klenz for $325,000 and $2,167,000 respectively. Both of these listings represent a total of 63.67 acres, and the Oakwood Road property in particular is required to provide necessary road access to properties further south of Oakwood on the western portions of the corporate park. According to LoopNet, both listings underwent updates within the past few weeks, though it doesn't say what was updated.
